Need a Supervisor? IASW are calling for Supervisors.... PDF Print E-mail
The IASW launched its CPD policy last April 2009 and within the policy, one of the core requirements is for social workers to have access to 20 hours of supervision from a qualified social worker within a 2 year cycle.

IASW would like to invite all social workers who have experience of providing supervision to consider if they would like to make themselves available to provide supervision to social workers who do not currently have access to supervision.

IASW will provide a list to all social workers requiring supervision. IASW would like interested potential supervisors to offer a short description of their work experience to date along with contact details and the charge per hour for providing supervision.

IASW will post these details on its web site.

Please see the IASW guidance for potential supervisors for additional information (document attached.)

DISCLAIMER: IASW does not take responsibility for the quality or actions of any potential supervisor but IASW reserves the right not to place a supervisor on or remove a supervisor from the supervisors list.

CPD Folder & Policy Document PDF Print E-mail

On 24th of April at their AGM the Irish Association of Social Workers (IASW) launched their continuous professional development (CPD) folder. IASW believe the folder will be a key tool in preparing social workers for professional registration which will occur in early 2010. The CPD folder includes the IASW’ CPD policy and log, the policy outlines the purpose and importance of CPD as well as the minimum CPD points required of social workers in the areas of skill development, gaining new knowledge and supervision and the CPD log allows social workers to record their CPD actives. In addition the folder offers a framework to assist social workers when undertaking personal development planning and supervision. Frank Browne thanked the HSE’s, Professional Education Health and Social Care Human Resource Department for funding this CPD project, Harold’s Cross Hospice Social Work Department for piloting the CPD policy and the Australian Association of Social Workers for allowing IASW to use aspects of their policy.
