Caroline McInerney Layng

I worked in Portiuncula University Hospital for 29 years retiring in 2025. I managed a team of 2 seniors and 3 main grade medical social workers.

I qualified in 1984 and worked in statutory social work with the Western Health Board, Clare Co Council and Galway Co Council.

In my hospital experience from 1996 , I worked as a single handed social worker, team leader and Principal. I have both direct clinical and managerial experience.

I gained considerable experience dealing with complex cases involving legal proceedings. Also I was highly regarded in the areas of care planning, advocacy, assessments, supervision and service developments.
