Pricing & Categories of Membership

The IASW membership year runs from January 1st to December 31st. You can join at any stage in the year, as we offer a pro-rata rate, further information can be obtained from the office.

  • Full Member @ €195 (annual) and €205 (monthly)
  • Part-time Member (20hrs or less) @ €135 (annual) and €145 (monthly)
  • Overseas Member @ €65.00
  • Non Working Member @ €50.00 
  • Retired Member @ €60.00
  • Students @ €30.00
  • First Year Post Qualify @ €160 (annual) and €170 (monthly)

Student Membership @ €30.00 – if you graduated in 2017 your fee would normally increase in January 2018 to €160.00, the membership rate for First Year Post Qualify, however, if you are currently unemployed, then the association will offer you the unemployed rate of €50.00. Please note, if you are employed in a non-social work post, that is still classed as “working”, and therefore the first year post qualify rate of €160.00 will apply to you. 
NOTE - If you fail to contact the office with your details you will automatically move up to the First Year Post Qualify rate of €160.00 on 1st January, 2018. 


Fitness to Practice Legal Expense Coverage: The IASW provides Fitness to Practise Legal Expenses cover FREE to the 'working' membership categories ONLY; Full-Time, Part-Time (20hrs or less) and 1st Year Post Qualify members.

Tax Relief: Claiming tax relief against your CORU annual retention fee and access to printing Registration Certificate: Registered CORU professionals may claim tax relief (at 20%) against the CORU annual retention fee where there is a statutory requirement for registration with CORU. Full Member

This category is applicable to members who are qualified over two years and are working over 20 hours per week.


This category is applicable to members who are qualified over two years and are working 20 hours or less per week


This category is applicable to members who are unemployed or working on a voluntary / unpaid bases.


This category is applicable to members who have obtained their qualification in the Republic of Ireland, but reside outside of the Republic of Ireland

First Year Post Qualify

This category is applicable to members who have been qualified and who are working in a social work post for up to one year.


This category is applicable to people who are students working towards a qualification recognised by CORU, the Social Work Registration Board.


IASW Membership is available at a special rate to those who have retired from the profession and are no longer practicing.


As per our Memo & Arts: Honorary Members shall be persons who, in the opinion of the Association, have done distinguished work furthering the objectives of the Association. They may be elected at aGeneral Meeting of the Association on the nomination of the Board of Directors and those persons so elected shall become Honorary Members for life. Honorary Members shall not beliable to pay subscriptions and shall have full voting rights.
