FULLY BOOKED Information seminar on Children and Family Relationships Bill 2014

The IASW is a member of the Children's Rights Alliance Working Group set up to review the General Scheme of the Children and Family Relationships Bill which aims to create a legal structure to underpin diverse parenting situations and provide legal clarity on parental rights and duties in diverse family forms

THE EVENT IS OPEN TO SOCIAL WORKERS ONLY

The seminar will provide social workers with an overview of the General Scheme of the Bill and highlight key proposals which, if enacted, will impact on families and children. The proposed legislation will

  • extend automatic guardianship rights to fathers who have co-habitated with the child's mother for a minimum of 12 months
  • provide for multiple guardians of a child
  • enforce orders relating to parenting, custody and access
  • legislate for issues relating to surrogacy and assisted human reproduction

Maria Corbett, Edel Quinn and Saoirse Brady of the Children's Rights Alliance will speak at the seminar and will be available to answer questions from social workers on the Bill.
