Child Protection Social Workers often feel that they do not have the time or scope to undertake direct or therapeutic work with children. This training will provide a variety of tools and methods that can be used with children in the context of a once off interview, or as a short term crisis intervention using a therapeutic approach. This training will also address how to record these interventions for the purposes of assessments and court proceedings.

Aoife Bairead is a social worker specialising in attachment interventions and assessments. She has been working with children and their families in Vietnam, New York and Ireland for fourteen years. She has received qualifications in attachment based assessments (including the Infant Care Index, Narrative Story Stems and the AAI)and in Drugs Counselling and Intervention. Aoife has also undertaken training in therapeutic interventions including Therplay, and as a trainer for the Positive Parenting for Changing Families programme. She is currently employed as a Child Protection Team Leader with Tusla Child and Family Agency.
