The Newly Qualified Social Workers Special Interest Group will hold a half day conference with speakers on CPD Standards and Requirements, self-reflection and self care.

CPD is defined as

“the means by which health and social care professionals maintain and improve their knowledge, skills and competence and develop the professional qualities required throughout their professional life. CPD is an important component in the continued provision of safe and effective services for the benefit of service users. CPD requires engagement by the health and social care professional in a range of learning activities on an on-going basis”

Cliona Murphy is Professional Development Co-ordinator at the IASW

Erna O’Connor is Asst Prof in Social Work/Fieldwork Co-Ordinator TCD. Reflection is a fundamental component of CPD. Erna presents lectures on reflection as a component of the BSS degree in TCD

Bernadette Casey is Principal Social Worker in Primary Care, Older Persons and Disability Services. Bernadette is a professional trainer, mediator and consultant coach supervisor.
