An introduction to a Rites of Passage approach

Social Care Ireland and the Irish Association of Social Workers (IASW) are jointly coordinating,

An introduction to a Rites of Passage approach with Kathryn Mc Cabe

Kathryn Mc Cabe is an independent consultant for groups that are engaged in change; in community, schools, business. She was a University Lecturer, and a published author in Social Ecology; Applying Ecological Thinking to Our Lives and Our work. She designs and facilitates workshops with an aim of cultivating transformational change. She has worked extensively with young people in Australia, Canada, Uk and her native Ireland and has a particular interest in contemporary Rites of Passage work for teens.

The training will explore:
• The hallmarks and purposes of rites of passage.
• Incorporating this approach into your own work and organization, using a Social Ecology model for systems mapping.
The workshop will be engaging and participatory. It will give you an opportunity to explore the intersection of your own personal experiences, a rites of passage understanding, and the professional context of your work.

• New skills for communicating with young people.
• More effective engagement with youth.
• Generate fresh ideas that will better support your needs and that of your clients.
• Greater wellbeing for youth supported by you.
