Five social work places at this interdisciplinary event have been funded by the HSCP Office, HSE. As such, IASW places are available to social workers in the publicly funded healthcare service only and to both Professional Body members and non-members.

By the end of this study day, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify and understand the main reasons why change programmes fail and identify the key issues and activities that the change agent must take into account in ensuring the successful implementation and institutionalisation of a change programme.
  2. Understand the roles and responsibilities during change.
  3. Explore a range of tools to facilitate you, the team, and colleagues through change.
  4. Examine and differentiate alternative approaches to the management of change and their implications for management practice.
  5. Explore the unique challenges thrown up by the healthcare context in terms of change management and examined the potentially competing narratives of different stakeholders.
  6. Examine the role and ideal attributes, behaviours and values of a successful change agent.
