Value Discourses in Social Work, Definitions, Views and Emergent Effects: An Attitudinal Survey.

  • 10 Mar 2016

My name is Joe Whelan. I am a fourth year Bachelor of Social Work student attending University College Cork. As part of my final year course requirements I am expected to complete an action research module

In this respect I am undertaking a piece of research relating to the role of values in contemporary social work practice and the relationship of the profession to advocacy groups. I feel these are questions that are of potential value and interest to practicing social workers. The results will be presented in the thesis. They will be seen by my supervisor, a second marker and the external examiner. The thesis may be read by future students on the course. The study may be published in a research journal.

Clicking on the link below will bring you to a survey page. The survey is short and simple to complete. By completing the survey you are agreeing to allow me to access and analyse the resulting data as part of my research study. You are not required to give your name and every effort will be made to ensure confidentiality. I humbly invite your participation.

If you choose to participate I respectfully ask that you complete the survey in full. All details and questions are relevant to the research questions and incomplete surveys could potentially hamper the research project.

I thank you in advance for taking the time out from your busy day.

Joe Whelan.
